Album Description:

"Made in the Shade "is a greatest hits album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released in 1975. It was the band's first greatest hits album in the United States since Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) in 1966. The album was compiled by the band's longtime producer, Andrew Loog Oldham, and features songs from the band's albums Between the Buttons (1967), Let It Bleed (1969), Sticky Fingers (1971), and Exile on Main St. (1972).

"Made in the Shade "was a commercial success, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. It was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1999. The album was also well-received by critics, with many praising the selection of songs and the band's performances.

The album's opening track, "Brown Sugar", is a classic Rolling Stones song that has been praised for its raw energy and sexual suggestiveness. The song was originally released on Sticky Fingers in 1971 and has become one of the band's most popular live songs.

Another highlight of the album is "Tumbling Dice", a bluesy rocker that was released as a single in 1972. The song was written by Keith Richards and is considered to be one of his best compositions.

The album also features the songs "Angie", "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)", and "Wild Horses". These songs are all considered to be classics of the Rolling Stones' catalog and have helped to make "Made in the Shade "one of the most popular greatest hits albums of all time.

Collector Notes:

"Made in the Shade", released in 1975, is the first official compilation album by The Rolling Stones during their Atlantic Records contract. It draws entirely from their first four albums on that label.

The model on the front cover of the 1975 Rolling Stones compilation album Made in the Shade is an unidentified woman who was photographed in a nudist magazine. The photographer, Christian Piper, took the picture in 1972 and sold the rights to the Rolling Stones for use as the album cover. The woman's face is not visible in the photo, and she has never been publicly identified. The photo was controversial at the time of its release, as it was seen as being sexually suggestive. However, it also helped to generate a lot of publicity for the album, which was a commercial success.
