Eat the Heat: A New Chapter, A New Fire
Album Description:

In the smoldering embers of the late 80s, Accept, the German metal machine, faced a crossroads. Udo, our iconic frontman, had departed, leaving a void that seemed impossible to fill. But the fire in our hearts burned brighter than ever. We had to forge ahead, to embrace change, to create a new chapter in the Accept saga. And that's exactly what we did with "Eat the Heat."

A Bold New Direction

"Eat the Heat" marked a departure from our past. We welcomed David Reece, a powerful American vocalist, into the fold. His raw energy and distinct style brought a fresh dimension to our sound. We also experimented with new songwriting approaches, incorporating elements of hard rock and even a touch of blues into our signature heavy metal assault.

Controversial Changes

The change in vocalist was met with both excitement and skepticism. Some fans yearned for the familiar growl of Udo, while others were eager to hear what a new voice could bring to the table. The album's more commercial sound also sparked debate among the metal faithful. But we never shied away from taking risks, from pushing the boundaries of our music.

Forged in the Fire of Dierks Studios

We retreated to the hallowed halls of Dierks Studios in Cologne, where we had crafted some of our most iconic albums. Under the guidance of producer Dieter Dierks, we poured our hearts and souls into every note, every riff, every scream. The studio became our battleground, where we fought to create an album that would both honor our legacy and embrace the future.

  • Bob Ludwig – Mastering Engineer

My quick tell for a record that’s about to sound expensive: “Mastered by Bob Ludwig” quietly lurking in the credits.

Bob Ludwig, for me, is the final boss of “make it hit”: cutting lacquers at A&R in the late ’60s, shaping the 1970s at Sterling Sound, the 1976–1992 Masterdisk era, then building Gateway Mastering in Maine (founded 1992) before retiring in 2023. His mastering fingerprints run from classic rock to metal to modern pop—Led Zeppelin and Lou Reed through Metallica, Nirvana, Tool, and Daft Punk.
