Rory Gallagher - Jinx 12" Vinyl LP Album

"Jinx" is the ninth studio album by Irish blues-rock musician Rory Gallagher, released in 1982. The album features a mix of original songs and covers, and showcases Gallagher's guitar playing skills. The album features a more polished sound than his previous efforts, with a greater emphasis on keyboards. It was produced by Rory Gallagher, and engineered by Tony Platt.

It includes songs such as "Moonchild", "Jinxed", "Bad Penny" and "Kid Gloves" which are considered some of his best songs. The album also features Bob Andrews on keyboards and piano and the saxophonist Dick Parry. The album was well received by critics but was not as commercially successful as some of Gallagher's earlier albums. However, it is still considered a classic in Gallagher's discography and a must-have for fans of his music.

Rory Gallagher's 'Jinx': A Double-Shot of Blues-Rock Brilliance, No Chaser Needed
Album Description:

In the smoke-filled backrooms of rock and roll's collective memory, there exists a hallowed space for those artists who refused to compromise, who clung to their musical integrity even as the tides of popular taste shifted and swirled around them. Rory Gallagher, the fiery Irish bluesman whose guitar playing could conjure both angels and demons, was one such artist. And his 1982 album, 'Jinx', stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the blues-rock ethos, even as the neon lights of the 80s threatened to eclipse its raw, visceral power.

By the time 'Jinx' hit the shelves, Gallagher had already amassed a devoted following, drawn to his incendiary live shows and his albums that crackled with an authenticity that was becoming increasingly rare in the era of MTV and synthesized pop. 'Jinx' was a continuation of this tradition, a no-frills, straight-ahead blast of blues-rock that showcased Gallagher's mastery of his craft.

Recorded at the legendary Maison Rouge Studios in London, with Gallagher himself at the helm as producer, 'Jinx' is a lean, mean machine of an album. There are no unnecessary frills or studio trickery here; just Gallagher, his trusty Stratocaster, and a rhythm section that's as solid as a brick wall. The album kicks off with the title track, a swaggering blues number that sets the tone for what's to come. From there, it's a non-stop ride through a landscape of gritty riffs, soaring solos, and soulful vocals.

Gallagher's guitar playing on 'Jinx' is, as always, a marvel to behold. He effortlessly shifts from delicate fingerpicking to face-melting solos, his every note infused with a passion that's both exhilarating and infectious. But it's his songwriting that truly sets 'Jinx' apart. Tracks like 'Big Guns' and 'Easy Come, Easy Go' offer a glimpse into Gallagher's restless soul, exploring themes of love, loss, and the struggle to find one's place in a world that's constantly changing.

'Jinx' wasn't without its controversies. Some critics accused Gallagher of being stuck in a rut, of refusing to evolve his sound to keep up with the times. But for his legions of fans, that was precisely the point. Gallagher was a keeper of the flame, a reminder that rock and roll wasn't just about image or fashion; it was about heart, soul, and the unbridled power of the blues.
