Richard "Rick" Wright was an English musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the keyboardist and one of the main vocalists of the rock band Pink Floyd. He was born on 28 July 1943, in London, England, and began playing the piano at a young age. He first met Nick Mason and Roger Waters while studying at the Regent Street Polytechnic in London, and in 1965 they formed Pink Floyd along with Syd Barrett. Wright played an important role in the band's sound and success, providing keyboard and piano parts, as well as contributing to the band's songwriting and singing lead vocals on several songs. He played on all of Pink Floyd's albums until "The Final Cut" (1983) where Roger Waters took over the band. In 1985, Wright returned as a session musician and played on the album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" (1987) and tour with the band.
Nick Mason is an English drummer and one of the founding members of the rock band Pink Floyd. He was born on 27 January 1944, in Birmingham, England. Mason began playing drums at an early age and was a member of several bands before forming Pink Floyd in 1965 with Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Richard Wright, and himself.
Mason has been the only constant member of Pink Floyd throughout the band's history and has played on all of their studio albums. He is widely considered to be one of the most innovative and talented drummers in rock music, and his drumming style has been a key element in the band's sound. He also played in the Live performances and concerts and participated in the creation of several of the band's most popular and critically acclaimed albums, including "The Dark Side of the Moon," "Wish You Were Here," "Animals," and "The Wall."
Syd Barrett was an English singer, songwriter and musician, who is best known as the original lead vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter of the rock band Pink Floyd. He was born Roger Keith Barrett on January 6, 1946, in Cambridge, England. He played an important role in the early development of Pink Floyd and was the main creative force behind the band's first album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" (1967).
Syd Barrett's last album with Pink Floyd was their debut album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" which was released in August 1967. The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, and features Barrett as the main songwriter and vocalist, with Roger Waters, Richard Wright, Nick Mason and himself as band members. The album received generally positive reviews and helped establish Pink Floyd as an important band in the emerging psychedelic rock scene of the late 1960s.
After the album's release, Syd Barrett's behavior and commitment to the band became increasingly erratic due to his heavy use of psychedelic drugs, particularly LSD. As a result, he was eventually replaced by David Gilmour as the band's lead vocalist and guitarist in 1968, and did not participate in the recording of any further Pink Floyd albums.
David Gilmour (Full-name: David Jon Gilmour) is an English musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the guitarist, co-lead vocalist and one of the main songwriters of the rock band Pink Floyd. He was born on March 6, 1946, in Cambridge, England.
Gilmour began playing guitar at a young age and formed his first band, Jokers Wild, in 1962. He later joined the band Bullitt, which also included future Pink Floyd member, Roger Waters. In 1968, he was invited to join Pink Floyd as a replacement for the band's original lead vocalist and guitarist, Syd Barrett, who had become increasingly unreliable due to his use of psychedelic drugs.
