THE CLASH - Combat Rock NL OIS + POSTER 12" Vinyl LP Album

"Combat Rock" is the fifth studio album by The Clash, released in 1982. It was their most commercially successful album, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart and number seven on the US Billboard 200. The album features the hit single "Rock the Casbah," which reached number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the band's most popular songs.

The album is considered a departure from the band's earlier punk sound and incorporates more elements of funk, reggae, and pop music. The lyrics on the album are more personal and introspective than the band's earlier politically charged material.

"Combat Rock" received generally positive reviews upon its release and has since been hailed as one of the band's best albums. It has been included in several lists of the greatest albums of all time, including Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" and NME's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time."

The album sold over 2 million copies worldwide and it was the last album the band released with Mick Jones, who was fired from the band in 1983.

The Clash was a British punk rock band that formed in 1976. The band consisted of Joe Strummer (vocals, guitar), Mick Jones (guitar, vocals), Paul Simonon (bass guitar, vocals) and Nicky "Topper" Headon (drums, percussion). They were known for their politically charged lyrics and their eclectic musical style, which incorporated elements of punk, reggae, rockabilly, and funk. The Clash's debut album, "The Clash," was released in 1977 and is considered one of the greatest punk albums of all time. They released several more albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including "Give 'Em Enough Rope," "London Calling," and "Combat Rock." The band disbanded in 1986, but their music continues to be influential to this day.

The Clash were one of the most prominent and influential bands of the punk rock movement, and their music and political activism helped to shape the punk and alternative music scenes. The band's early music was heavily influenced by punk pioneers like the Sex Pistols, but they quickly began to incorporate elements of other genres, including reggae, rockabilly, and funk. This eclecticism helped to set The Clash apart from other punk bands and made them one of the most innovative and unique groups of the era.

The band's lyrics were often politically charged and dealt with issues such as class struggle, anti-establishment, anti-fascism, and anti-imperialism, making them one of the most politically active bands of the era.

The Clash's third album, "London Calling" (1979), is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time. It was a commercial success, and it was named the best album of the 1980s by Rolling Stone magazine. "Combat Rock" (1982) was their most successful album commercially, and it gave them a hit single "Rock the Casbah"

After "Combat Rock", the band went through some personal and musical differences which led to the departure of Mick Jones and the band eventually disbanded in 1986.

The influence of The Clash is still felt today, and the band is considered one of the most important and enduring groups of the punk era. Their music continues to be celebrated and their legacy continues to be an inspiration for many musicians and bands.
