Asia is an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1981. The original lineup consisted of John Wetton (vocals, bass), Steve Howe (guitars), Geoff Downes (keyboards), and Carl Palmer (drums).
The band's self-titled debut album, "Asia," was released in 1982 and became a huge commercial success, reaching No. 1 on the US album charts and selling over four million copies in the United States alone. The album's hit single, "Heat of the Moment," also became a top 40 hit in the US.
Asia continued to tour and release albums throughout the 1980s, but by the early 1990s, the band's lineup had changed several times and their popularity had declined. However, in 2006, the original lineup of Wetton, Howe, Downes, and Palmer reformed and began touring and recording again, releasing several new albums.
