Dive into the electrifying debut of Canada's glam metal heroes, Black 'N Blue. This self-titled 12" vinyl LP ignites with anthems like "Chains Around Heaven" and "Hold On To 18," showcasing the band's raw energy and Jaime St. James' powerful vocals. Remastered for premium sound, it's a headbanging journey back to the golden age of hairspray and shredding guitars.
The year was 1984, and the world was hungry for soaring vocals, blazing guitar solos, and just a touch of spandex. From the stages of Sunset Strip to arena tours, glam metal was in its glorious heyday, and Black 'N Blue arrived on the scene with a sonic bang, delivering their self-titled debut album.
Canadian Roots, American Sound
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, but finding their footing in Los Angeles, Black 'N Blue embraced the classic glam metal sound. Their self-titled LP, a 12" vinyl testament to the times, features a blend of arena-ready anthems and surprisingly vulnerable ballads. Lead vocalist Jaime St. James's gritty yet melodic vocals, combined with Tommy Thayer's explosive guitar work, formed the band's sonic backbone.
From "Hold On To 18" to "Chains Around Heaven"
The album bursts open with the iconic "Hold On To 18," an anthem of teenage rebellion and a staple of the glam metal era. It seamlessly transitions into the fist-pumping "School of Hard Knocks" before slowing down for the power ballad "Autoblast." The album's crown jewel, however, might be "Chains Around Heaven" – a soaring, emotionally charged track that showcases the band's songwriting prowess.
