EXUMER - Possessed By Fire: A Blazing Inferno of Teutonic Thrash
Album Description:

In the fiery crucible of 1980s Germany, amidst a burgeoning thrash metal scene, EXUMER emerged with their debut album, "Possessed By Fire." Released in 1986 through Disaster Records, this album served as a sonic declaration of intent, showcasing the band's raw power, aggressive musicianship, and uncompromising attitude.

Historical Context

Emerging from the vibrant underground metal scene in Frankfurt, EXUMER was formed by vocalist/bassist Mem Von Stein and guitarist Ray Mensh. Their music was heavily influenced by the pioneers of thrash metal, such as Slayer, Metallica, and Exodus. However, EXUMER carved their own niche with their distinct Teutonic aggression and relentless energy.

Musical Exploration

"Possessed By Fire" is a relentless assault of speed, aggression, and razor-sharp riffs. The album opens with the title track, a blistering sonic barrage that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Songs like "Destructive Solution," "Fallen Saint," and "A Mortal In Black" showcase the band's technical proficiency and their ability to create memorable, headbanging anthems.

The lyrics on "Possessed By Fire" are dark, nihilistic, and often violent. They explore themes of war, death, and destruction, reflecting the chaotic and uncertain times in which the album was created. EXUMER's music is not for the faint of heart, but it is undeniably powerful and captivating.

Music Genre

EXUMER's music is firmly rooted in the thrash metal genre, but it also incorporates elements of speed metal and punk rock. This unique blend of styles creates a sound that is both brutal and melodic, with a driving rhythm section and soaring guitar solos.
