Vice Squad - Stand Strong Stand Proud: A Punk Rock Statement
Album Description:

Released in 1982, amidst the vibrant and evolving UK punk scene, Vice Squad's "Stand Strong Stand Proud" served as a powerful statement of defiance and social commentary. The album, produced by Andy Allan, was recorded at Morgan Studios, a renowned recording facility in London.

Musical Exploration and Social Commentary

"Stand Strong Stand Proud" solidified Vice Squad's signature sound, a blend of raw energy, catchy melodies, and thought-provoking lyrics. The album delved into themes of social injustice, political unrest, and personal struggles, reflecting the band's rebellious spirit and commitment to challenging the status quo. Songs like "Stand Strong Stand Proud," "Gutterchild," and "No Right to Reply" showcased the band's ability to address serious issues while maintaining their punk rock edge.

The Band's Lineup

Fronted by the charismatic Beki Bondage, Vice Squad's lineup for "Stand Strong Stand Proud" included Dave Bateman on guitar, Mark Hambly on bass, and Shane Baldwin on drums. Bondage's distinctive vocals and stage presence were a driving force behind the band's success, while Bateman's guitar work provided a solid foundation for their sound. The rhythm section of Hambly and Baldwin added a tight and energetic groove to the music.

Production and Controversy

Andy Allan's production on "Stand Strong Stand Proud" captured the raw energy and intensity of Vice Squad's live performances. The album's mix was raw and unpolished, reflecting the DIY aesthetic of the punk scene. However, the album was not without controversy.
