Savage is a British Heavy Metal band (NWOBHM) from Mansfield, England and mainly active from 1983 until 1986. During this period they released three official recordings: "Loose 'n' Lethal", "We Got The Edge", "Hyperactive".

After Savage departed from Ebony Records and signed a recording contract with Zebra, they recorded "We Got The Edge / Running Scared / She Don't Need You" their first record on the Zebra label

In the midst of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) explosion of the early 1980s, Mansfield-based band Savage released their "We Got the Edge/Running Scared/She Don't Need You" 12" vinyl EP. This 1983 release, brimming with raw energy and unrestrained passion, solidified their place in the genre's history.

Historical Context

Emerging amidst a wave of British heavy metal bands, Savage found themselves in a vibrant musical landscape. Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Saxon were already making waves, but the NWOBHM movement provided a platform for countless bands to explore their own unique take on heavy metal. Savage's EP captured the raw energy and unbridled passion that defined the movement.

Musical Exploration

This three-track EP is a masterclass in NWOBHM songwriting. "We Got the Edge" is an anthem of defiance, its driving riffs and soaring vocals a call to arms for metalheads everywhere.
