Description & Collectors Information: Kvist is a Danish black metal band formed in 1991. They released their first demo "Kvist" in 1992, and later released two full-length albums, "For kunsten maa vi evig vike" in 1998 and "Jeg har set verdens ende" in 2000. The band's music is known for its raw, primitive sound and lyrics that focus on anti-Christian themes. The band's name "Kvist" means "twig" in Danish, which is also the title of a poem by the Danish poet Poul Borum which is considered a classic of Danish literature. Kvist disbanded in 2000 but reformed in 2012. Trivia: "Kvist for kunsten" is a phrase in Danish that translates to "twig for art" in English. It is the title of a poem by the Danish poet and author Poul Borum, which was published in 1970. The poem is a plea for art and its importance in society, and the full title of the poem is "Kvist for kunsten, må vi evig vike" which means "For the sake of art, we must forever yield." The poem is considered a classic of Danish literature and is often studied in schools and universities in Denmark. |
