Synopsis of the Nirvana band: Nirvana was an American rock band formed in 1987 by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic. The band's breakthrough came in 1991 with the release of their second album "Nevermind", which featured the hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit". The song became a cultural phenomenon, and helped to popularize the grunge movement and alternative rock music in general. The album topped the Billboard 200 chart, and sold over 30 million copies worldwide.

The band's success continued with the release of their third album "In Utero" in 1993, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and sold over 15 million copies worldwide. Nirvana was considered to be one of the most influential bands of the 1990s and helped to shape the sound and attitude of the decade's alternative rock scene.

Tragically, on April 5th, 1994, Kurt Cobain committed suicide, effectively ending the band. Nirvana's legacy continues to live on through the band's music and influence on subsequent generations of musicians.
