Blood Feast's "Kill for Pleasure": A Gory Thrashterpiece Bathed in Blue Vinyl
Album Description:

Amidst the thrash metal frenzy of the late 80s, New Jersey's Blood Feast unleashed their debut 12" LP, "Kill for Pleasure," a slab of primal aggression and bloody imagery that sent shivers down the spines of the faint of heart. This limited edition pressing on blue vinyl is a collector's dream, but it's the music that truly bleeds into your soul.

Released in 1987, "Kill for Pleasure" arrived at a time when thrash was reaching its peak, with bands like Slayer, Metallica, and Exodus pushing the boundaries of sonic brutality. Blood Feast, however, carved their own niche with a sound that was both ferocious and grotesque, blending thrash's speed and aggression with lyrical themes of gore and violence.

The album opens with "Menacing Thunder," a relentless onslaught of thrash riffs and guttural vocals that sets the stage for the carnage to follow. Tracks like "Kill for Pleasure" and "Cannibal" delve into the darkest corners of the human psyche, with lyrics that revel in bloodlust and mayhem. The band's musicianship is tight and precise, with razor-sharp guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and a vocal performance that sounds like it was ripped from the depths of hell.

While "Kill for Pleasure" was undeniably a product of its time, it also courted controversy with its graphic imagery and lyrics. The album cover, featuring a blood-soaked figure wielding a knife, was deemed too offensive for some retailers, and the band's lyrical content drew criticism from those who accused them of glorifying violence.

Produced by Blood Feast themselves and engineered by Rae Dileo and Doug Conroy at Waterfront Studios, the album's sound is raw and unpolished, capturing the band's primal energy in all its gory glory. Ron McMasters' mastering adds a final layer of sonic intensity, ensuring that every riff and scream cuts through the speakers like a blade.
