Kramer initially started his career as a musician, playing the trumpet and the piano. However, his passion for recording and engineering led him to focus on becoming a sound engineer. In the 1960s, he relocated to London, England, where he began working at Pye Studios and later joined Olympic Studios.

One of the major turning points in Eddie Kramer's career came when he was introduced to Jimi Hendrix in 1967. Kramer became Hendrix's primary recording engineer and played a crucial role in shaping the sound and aesthetic of Hendrix's music. He worked on all of Hendrix's albums released during his lifetime, including the groundbreaking "Are You Experienced," "Axis: Bold as Love," and "Electric Ladyland."
